Chris Ames

Creative Strategist

“I believe the shortest distance between two people is a story. I love locating the narrative heart of a company and helping articulate that passion and energy to others.”

On the simplest level, Chris oversees putting words in the right order. Whether it’s reinventing brand language, sprucing up web copy, or creating engaging posts on Emotive Brand’s blog, he strives to make things clean, concise, and memorable. With a diverse background in fiction, journalism, illustration, and branding, he’s always on the lookout for creative and off-kilter ways to tell a story.

Hopping around California, Chris was born in Los Angeles, grew up in San Diego, and now lives in Oakland. He studied Creative Writing at San Francisco State University on a full-ride scholarship. Before joining Emotive Brand, Chris worked at a high-paced startup and creative studio, ViewFind, where he wrote for Intel, Lenovo, Hearst, Ad Council, and many others. When he’s not writing for brands, he publishes fiction and illustrations in many small journals you’ve probably never heard of.
